Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Lenke Type 2
Published by Dr. Mayur Kardile — Pune Spine Institute

Case Overview
A 14-year-old high school girl noticed gradual hunching over of her back. This spinal curve grew rapidly at the time of her growth spurt at puberty, prompting her family to seek consultation at Pune Spine Institute.
On clinical and radiological examination, she was diagnosed to have Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis with a double thoracic curve of 50 and 46 degrees (Lenke Type 2).
Normal spine when viewed from the front forms a straight line. An abnormal lateral or sideways curvature of the spine is called scoliosis. In adolescents, this is most commonly idiopathic — meaning no identifiable cause.
The patient was treated with Posterior Spinal Deformity Correction and Instrumented Fusion surgery. The surgery successfully corrected the curvature and restored spinal alignment.
